 ABOUT US ...

Our mission at K&A Cattle Co. is to provide high quality cattle to producers who wish to maximize the productivity of their cow herd and excel in the show ring.

K&A Cattle Co. is located near Astoria, SD along the SD/MN border. Our ranch is only 15 miles East of I-29, 30 minutes from Brookings, SD and only one and one-half hours from Sioux Falls.

K&A Cattle Co. is a family operation including my wife, Kara, and our two boys, Nathan and Lane.  K&A Cattle Co. is a progressive cattle outfit with a major emphasis on developing females that are built for longevity, production and the show ring. We calve about 150 cows each spring; in addition, we have two cooperative herds in Minnesota.

We hope if you are passing thru our area that you will stop in for a visit. Our focus is always on the cattle and we like to share that enthusiasm with others. Please give us a call and stop by for a look at a cow herd which is gaining popularity and a reputation for quality.

NO. 275

Yes, we have "275"!!! The powerful Draft Pick son who was so popular at Burke Show Cattle.  A unique opportunity was provided to us earlier this year to purchase this bull.  Even though he has some age on him, he is sound and anyone who has heard of this bull knows his reputation for producing quality cattle.  We are excited to add this proven sire to our battery of bulls to produce quality females.

We will have semen available for purchase on this herd sire!

custom donor cow housing service ...

We operate a Custom Donor Cow Housing Service.  This business is expanding rapidly and will become a larger part of our operation in the future. We provide the housing, care, set up shots, and breeding of the donor cows.  Currently cows are housed in small groups.  Individual cow housing is available if your cow has medical or behavioral needs.  Tri-County Vet Clinic in Taunton, MN performs the flush which is done by Dr. Scott Josephson.  Dr. Josephson has over 15 years experience in the embryo business.

After starting this business in January of 2004 we have flushed donors every month.  On average we have 8 to 10 donors here all year round.  We have had as many as 30 donors at one time and we are planning to be able to house up to 60 donors by the end of 2007.  From July 29, 2004 to July 29, 2005 we had 77 flushes with 68 successful flushes averaging 7.7 useable eggs per flush.  We are dedicated to providing the best care possible to your donor to maximize her embryo production, and generate the most return on your investment.  Please contact us for any of your embryo needs.

A planned new aspect to our donor business will be the marketing of pregnant receipts.  Starting in 2007 we are making available the opportunity to purchase 60 day pregnant receipts.  Please contact us if you have any interest in purchasing these pregnant receipts
